Tuesday

Hiya all.. it's been a few days of quiet, but good progress. Madeleine has remained off her ventilator, and is now starting to gain some weight again. She is on a more aggressive feeding program to try and get her weight above 2lbs. She has been up and down over the last week, and is back to about 1lb 11oz today.

Dillon was extubated on Monday, and is doing well, but not as well as Madeleine. He requires more oxygen than she does, but is still doing pretty well for his age. Everyone is very positive about both of them.

Here's a few pics.

Dillon just after his tube was pulled out. His cheeks are puffy and red from the tape.

Madeleine with the mask off for a few minutes breathing on her own. A little bruised up from the tape and masks

Madeleine snuggling with Dad.

Madeleine holding my finger (she does this alot).

Hi My Dears

Missed you lots the last couple of days but those beautiful pictures today made up for it! That little Maddy is going to be a corker, I just know it !!!!
I guess it's getting to be old hat to you guys, but everytime I see them, I just can't get over the miracle of it all!
I'm sure if you had heard anything more about the when you might be able to come home, you'd have told us.At least we know that the longer it takes, the stronger they'll be for the trip! So we'll just be contented with that.
As always, hugs and kisses to you all.
Much Love, Lil XOX

Hi, we've never met but I'm Scott Johnston's sister Jennifer. Scott and Kristen told me about the birth of little Dillon & Madeline. I'm not sure if you know this but 6 years ago (when our daughter Samantha was 2 1/2) my husband and I had our 2nd daughter, a very very wee one. Katie was born at 25 weeks, she weighed 540 grams (1 lbs and 3 oz.)and she was 11 inches long. She was on a ventilator for 33 days, she had eye surgery and she was in the hospital for 116 days (came home at 4 lbs 4 oz.)

Today she is in French Immersion Grade 1 and she is a perfectly normal (but skinny!) 6 year old who loves dancing, singing, playing with friends etc. Ask her Uncle Scott or her Auntie Kristen, she's our "spirited" child!

Each day your little ones will amaze you and inspire you. Premies are strong and they're fighters. Stay positive and if I can help in any way please email me at jensk@shaw.ca

Take care
Jennifer & Gord
Samantha & of course Katie

Hi Abby & David! Aidan and I arrived at Michelle's going away and learned that you had two surprise guests! I have been a daily reader of the Blog, but had yet to send a message! (Probably because I was still laughing at David's letter to Bill Gates...a true classic)

The babies look like they are getting stronger and heathier every day. There mom and dad are certainly the strongest people we know and I am sure they will take after their parents.

Can't wait to see the four of you home in Vancouver.

Lots of Love,
Dave & Aidan
