First off... thanks to all of you for the flowers, cards, calls and comments. Wish I could thank each of you personally, but it has all been a bit overwhelming. Abby's room looks and smells great from the flowers, and all the nurses make comments on the number of people supporting us from far away.
Not a great day for Madeleine. She is still struggling and in pain. They have her on morphine to help her out and she seems happier with that. Her lungs are not developing as fast as the doctors want. Everything else seems to be OK, so we are hopeful. The doctor came down to give us the facts today, and it was pretty upsetting. They will monitor overnight, but we may have to pursue more aggressive treatments if she does not improve.
Dillon is doing very well. He might even come off the respirator as early as Wed. Keeping our fingers crossed there too. Everyone is being very supportive here, and the doctors and nurses are with them 24 hours per day.
Maureen (Abby's mom) and Jody left today. They were a great support team while they were here and helped Abby and I out immensely. Thanks guys! Abby has started pumping breast milk with some contraption that looks like it was designed to inflate truck tires, but it seems to do the trick. The baby food production machine has sprung to life.
It's about 10pm here, and we're going to head back up to the ICU for a visit at around 11. We'll try to snap some more pics then.
