Well.. we made it through the first 24 hours, one of the critical milestones in preemie development. Next is the 3 day mark, then 1 week. Babies are doing well. They are on track for all vitals. They have even started urinating, which is apparently a good sign. Abby is recovering well too. She had a shower today and is up and mobile (barely) Being on her back for 11 days has already caused muscle atrophy. She is still fighting a few infections, and is still on an IV.
We will be in the hospital for another week at least, and are looking at options beyond that, based on where we are with babies at one week. General consensus is that they will be in the hospital until their original due date (December 22nd) Hopefully we will have them home for Christmas! Still exploring conditions under which we could re-locate them to a hospital in Vancouver, but discussions cannot start until next week on that front. Keep those positive thoughts and comments for Abby, Madeleine and Dillon coming!

Congratulations Abby!
On the birth of twins and snagging such a dedicated husband - great blog - I'd wish you all the happiness in the world, but methinks you've already found it.
You deserve it.
Aptly named entry - "Day 1 of the rest of our lives."
Although you've arrived at parenthood via the highly stressful 'school of hard knocks,' having children is all about balancing the joy with the worry - neither ever leaves you.
Love June (and Mike)
Abby, What a great gift, one you will surely remember as far as birthday gifts go.

"They say it's your birthday..da na na na na". You know that song right? Was it just last year that you were telling me your birthday story in your NMBC office, Abby? Time flies.
Anyway, glad to hear that things are going well. Keep up the blog David--it's great! Best to all of you,
Gina

Dear David and Abby;
No news is good news so we are assuming that all four of you are doing really well. It is absolutely wonderful to be able to check in each day and see the pictures of the wee ones. Prayers work! I cry for joy when I see the babies.
Much love,
Susan and Vic
